How to Reach Koh Phangan

Reaching the tropical paradise of Koh Phangan for the iconic Full Moon Party requires some planning, but multiple transportation options make the journey part of the adventure.

1. From Bangkok to Koh Phangan

Total journey time: 4-15 hours depending on route

Fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui (1-hour flight), then take a 30-minute ferry to Koh Phangan. Alternatively, fly to Surat Thani (1-hour flight) and take a 3-hour ferry.
Take a bus from Bangkok to Surat Thani (10-12 hours), then catch a ferry to Koh Phangan (3 hours).
Overnight train from Bangkok to Surat Thani (12 hours), followed by a bus to the pier and ferry to Koh Phangan.

2. From Phuket to Koh Phangan

Total journey time: 3-8 hours depending on route

Fly from Phuket to Koh Samui (55 minutes), then take a ferry to Koh Phangan.
Take a combined bus and ferry service (7-8 hours total). Buses depart Phuket, connect with high-speed ferries at Surat Thani or Donsak pier.

3. From Koh Samui to Koh Phangan

Regular ferries run between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan (30-45 minutes). Speedboats are also available for a quicker journey (15-20 minutes).

Special Full Moon Party boats run frequently on the night of the event.

4. From Surat Thani to Koh Phangan

Take a ferry from Surat Thani pier to Koh Phangan (3 hours). Combined tickets including bus transfer from Surat Thani city/airport to the pier are available.

4. International Routes to Koh Phangan

Fly into Bangkok, Koh Samui, or Surat Thani airports. From there, follow the domestic routes outlined above. Some airlines offer combined flight and ferry packages to Koh Phangan.
